Dale has spent most of his life in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Wichita State University with a B.S. degree in Education, and later earned an M.A. in History. He held positions at Goddard High School, a suburb of Wichita, for 33 years, most of the time teaching U.S. history. He retired at the age of 57, in 1992. His wife, Vicki, teaches journalism at Wichita East High School and is the site computer consultant.
They live in an 1887 Queen Anne home which was recently placed on the National and Kansas Registers of Historic Places.
Their interests include travel, historic preservation, designing web pages, antiques, player pianos, neighborhood activities and most recently, helping to restore an old firehouse as a firefighters museum.
