Charles is the author of "Churchmans of Kentucky". Charles said that the book had its beginning about 1973 when his son Charles and a neice Sandy asked about their ancestors. The book was published in 1988.
Charles graduated from DuPont Manual High School in 1948. He started Machinist apprenticeship at the L & N Railroad in 1951 and worked there until 1955 when he went to Seagram's distillery.
In 1962 Charles went to work at the Courier Journal and Times. He worked there until retirement in 1987.
In 1952 Charles was honored by being raised to the Master Mason Degree, F&AM, by his uncles Roger and Frank Churchman. Both were Past Master of Fairdale Lodge and in addition, Frank Churchman was Past Master of Valley Lodge.
