Nettie's husband, James Jewett Turner, was a life long employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad. When Nettie and James married, he was superintendent of the Indianapolis and Vincennes Railroad that later became a division of the Pennsylvania Railroad. She eventually moved with her husband and children to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. James retired from Pennsylvania Railroad at the age of seventy, being at that time First Vice-President of the Lines West of Pittsburgh.
