James Robert graduated from Aldrich High School in Aldrich, Missouri. He spent three years in the U.S. Army in Hawaii as a Signal Corps Radio Telegrapher. He married upon returning to the States. He did some farming in Missouri and Oregon, but spent most of his life working in heavy construction. He also worked as a carpenter building homes in the Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, areas. After an accident at the Detroit Dam in Oregon, James' health began to deteriorate.
After 10 years of illness, he died. His death was attributed to a combination of diabetes and cancer.
Cleta Irene was an officer in the Women's Auxiliary of the Washington Trollers Association, and also a member of the Pacific Coast Fishermen's Wives and Mothers Coalition Team of California, Oregon, and Washington. Working on behalf of fishermen, she was a member of a political team that works with Washington State Senators and Congressmen. During fishing season, Cleta would work on a fishing boat owned by her son, George.
