Everett matriculated to Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas with his parents. He worked in a sawmill in Kosoma, Indian Territory in 1898. He eventually moved to Gillham, Arkansas with his parents and went work for the Iron Mountain Railroad. While working as a conductor on the train, he was shot by two tramps that he was ejecting from his train on March 17, 1911. The shooting was front page news in the Monroe Louisiana newspaper.
He died from his wound March 18, 1911 in Monroe, LA.
