- Notes:
According to the Texas 1900 Census, Thomas, his wife, and children were living in Denton County, Texas.
Thomas is buried with his daughter J.O. and next to his brother William H. Churchman in the Lonesome Dove Cemetery. Thomas and J.O. share the same tombstone. Thomas' inscription is on the front of the stone while J.O.'s inscription is on one side of the stone. These inscriptions read:
There is a discrepancy in Thomas' name. In most places his name is listed as Thomas C. Churchman. According to Martha Dunn, the middle initial stands for Calvin. According to some of Mamie Ozelle Churchman's writing, his middle name was Cowden. Calvin and Cowden sound somewhat alike (especially if you say it with a Texan draw). There is no proof to the correct spelling of his middle name.
