A. S. Bible owned Willamina's first general merchandise store. On June 25, 1879, Bible bought all of Block 1 in the town of Willamina for $100. This is where his first store stood. By 1880 he owned a general store in both Willamina and Sheridan. Bible lived in Sheridan, and hired Richard Looney Churchman to take care of his Willamina store. In time Richard bought this store from Bible, and kept it for several years. Richard was one of Willamina's early postmasters too.
