Adam participated in the Civil War between 1863 and 1865 in Alabama. Margurette and Adam Carpenter matriculated to Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. In 1880 they lived in Freeborn, Dunklin County, Missouri. They had 8 children. Most of their family has continued to live in Oklahoma.
