Funeral services were held at his home May 8, 1902. He is buried in the old Mitchell Campground Cemetery a few miles from Aldrich, MO.

William Montgomery Churchman and his brother, Rufus Jackson, married sisters, Mary Jane and Rachel Kinder. William M. and Mary Jane Churchman named their first daughter after Mary Jane's sister, Rachel. Rufus and Rachel Churchman named their first daughter after Rachel's sister, Mary Jane.
William moved to Rocktown between Mossy Creek and Talbott at an early age. He was 45 years old at the onset of the Civil War. He moved to the Ozarks in Missouri where he died at age 95. William made a profession of religion a number of years ago and joined the Baptist Church. He lived with his son, Thomas A. Churchman at the time of his death and had been blind for a number of years.
